How to generate a check code
Create and share a DVLA driving licence check code from the Driver Codes app in a few taps.
Open Driver Codes and sign in with the account linked to your licence.
From the home screen, tap the menu drawer icon at the top left of the screen. Choose Check codes.
Any existing unused check codes will show — use any of these that you've not already shared. A share code can only be used once. Generate a new code by pressing the button at the bottom of the screen. The app will display a fresh check code.
Tap on any active codes to see more details, share to your transport manager / office via email, Messenger or WhatsApp using the share link; or choose to show the requester the details using full screen - at a car rental desk, for example.
Finally you can choose to share your code by allowing the requester to scan the QR code and following the instructions that will appear on their mobile phone.
Check codes expire after 21 days. Generate a new one any time from the same screen — no need to visit the DVLA website.
