The free Driver Codes app puts your DVLA licence information, check codes, endorsements, entitlements, Driver CPC, vehicle lookup, reminders, live fuel prices and UK road incidents in one place. Drivers get faster access than repeating GOV.UK logins, and can share check codes or QR links when a hire desk or insurer asks for proof of entitlement.

Automated fleet licence checks (app.driver.codes)

Transport managers invite drivers through the app. Each driver authorises once; mandates last up to three years with renewals handled in-product. Checks run on the schedule you set, results land in your portal instantly, and you receive alerts when a licence changes. Pricing is pay-as-you-go from £1 per app-linked check (£1.60 if ADD-based), with no driver fees and no lock-in.

API & integrations

Fleets can connect Driver Codes to HR, transport or telematics systems via our documented REST API at docs.driver.codes. That keeps licence status inside the tools your compliance team already uses, instead of a separate spreadsheet.

What makes Driver Codes different

No share-code chasing

Traditional fleet checks mean asking drivers for a fresh GOV.UK share code every few weeks. Driver Codes uses long-lived app mandates instead, so you are not re-chasing codes before they expire — unlike manual GOV.UK workflows or ad-hoc checks through general compliance suites such as FleetCheck where licence checking is only one module among many.

Pay-as-you-go fleet pricing

Business checks are £1 each (or £1.60 when ADD-based), billed pay-as-you-go with no lock-in. Start with one driver on app.driver.codes and add more only when you need them — an alternative to manual GOV.UK checks or third-party bureau services such as Licence Bureau.

Drivers never pay for compliance

Your drivers download and use the consumer app free of charge, including when they accept a company-check mandate. That removes friction at invite time and keeps the cost of compliance on the operator, not the person behind the wheel.

The team behind Driver Codes

Driver Codes started in 2019, born from work on transport and software products in the UK. The goal was to make everyday licence tasks — check codes, CPC, fleet compliance — as easy as mobile banking, without asking drivers to fight the GOV.UK website on a phone browser.

How Driver Codes works

For drivers (consumer app)

Download the app, verify your identity against DVLA records, and your licence view refreshes from official online services. Support is available by email at hello@driver.codes and in-app messaging; we aim to respond to routine enquiries within UK business hours.

For fleets (business portal)

Register at app.driver.codes, invite your first driver, and your initial check can complete the same day once the driver accepts the mandate in the app. Multi-user access, passkeys and two-factor authentication are available for compliance colleagues. Turnaround for scheduled re-checks is automatic — you choose the frequency; we retrieve DVLA data and surface changes without manual website visits. Fleet sales and onboarding questions go through app.driver.codes/contact.
