This notice lists the specific cookies and similar technologies used on the driver.codes website. It supplements section 6 of our Website Privacy Notice, which explains the categories and your rights in more detail.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as localStorage and tracking pixels. In this notice we refer to all of these as "cookies".
2. The categories we use
- Strictly necessary — for session management, security and core site functionality. These do not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
- Analytics — to understand site usage in aggregate and improve the experience. We run these by default without asking for consent, relying on the analytics exemption introduced by the UK Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. We only use analytics for aggregate, non-identifying statistics, and you can opt out at any time (see section 7).
- Functional — to remember your preferences and improve usability. Set only with your consent.
- Marketing — to measure campaign effectiveness and, where you've opted in, to deliver relevant messages. Set only with your consent.
We manage these cookies through Google Tag Manager (container GTM-TZ3PCCX) using Google Consent Mode. By default, analytics is allowed while functional and marketing tags are held in a "denied" state and do not write cookies to your device until you opt in. If you opt out of analytics, those tags are set to "denied" too.

4. Analytics (on by default — aggregate only, opt-out available)
We rely on the analytics exemption in the UK Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. This means we may run the analytics cookies below without asking for consent, on the basis that they are used solely for aggregate statistics to improve the service, the data is not used to identify individual visitors, and you are offered a simple, free opt-out (see section 7). We do not use analytics data for advertising.

6. Third-party content
Some pages embed third-party content (for example videos or a live chat widget). When loaded with your consent, these providers may set their own cookies, governed by their own policies. If you reject non-essential cookies, this content may be limited or replaced with a placeholder.
7. Managing your preferences
You can accept, reject or change your choices at any time:
- using the Cookie settings link in the website footer, or
- through your browser settings, which let you block or delete cookies (this may affect how the site works).
For analytics specifically, you can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We may update this notice as the cookies we use change. The current version, with its version date, is always at /legal/cookies.
