Where do points show on my driving licence?
Penalty points (endorsements) are not printed on your photocard — they are held on your DVLA record. Here is how to check your points and when they will be removed using the Driver Codes app.

Penalty points — officially called endorsements — are not printed on your photocard licence. Since the paper counterpart was abolished in 2015, they are held only on your DVLA driving record. That means the only way to see them is to check online.
Check your licence for endorsements
You can check the endorsements (penalty points) on your licence using the Driver Codes app, or via the GOV.UK view driving licence service, to see what penalty points you have and when they will be removed.
How to check for endorsements in the Driver Codes app
- If you have not already, download the Driver Codes app from your app store.
- Create a Driver Codes profile and link it to your DVLA details. Your information is encrypted and protected by your phone's biometric challenge.
- Once your licence has loaded, open the menu using the top-left menu icon and select Points.
Using the Driver Codes app gives you fast and secure access to your real-time DVLA information, so you are only a few seconds away from checking your current status. If you need to share your points with an employer or insurer, see our guide on what a DVLA check code is.
